THE OLD MAN

THE OLD MAN

Wizened and grey-cloaked, the Old Man has no name and wanders the Wilderlands, quietly sowing discord in his wake. A hugely manipulative, mystically powerful, seemingly un-killable figure, no one is sure of his true purpose or aims, but some of his actions suggest that he has ties to the Childlike Empress and is concerned with waking her up.
While Sauron and the Unfinished Princess will likely wind up targeting the fellowship due to their continued interference, the Old Man knows why they're there in the Wilderlands and has a vested interest in the outcome of their quest, though what outcome he'd prefer is a mystery. He will be frequently trying to use them to manipulate events.
Despite sharing a similar appearance, the Old Man is not Gandalf of Middle-Earth (another figure wandering the Wilderlands). This has led to Gandalf trying to find and stop the man he keeps getting mistaken for, as he's realized the Old Man is a dangerous force in the Wilderlands that's really putting a dent in his already troubled reputation.

The Old Man's two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, act as his spies, bringing him information from all over the Wilderlands. That said, the two are capable of thinking and reasoning for themselves and don't always agree with their master's actions. At times they may be willing to offer information and aid to the fellowship without telling their master what they've done.
