ROUGHING IT

ROUGHING IT

Some characters are capable of surviving in a fantasy setting without using any powers or gaining any magic. All players have the option of not giving a character any powers at all and forcing them to interact with the setting with non-powered abilities.
This option is best suited to characters who already have abilities like combat skills, weapons training, or survival skills. If a character does not have any such skills, then they should at least be capable of being trained and learning such skills from other PCs or NPCs in different locations throughout the game world.
While characters who decide to rough it will largely have to rely on their own skills to get by, they will occasionally have the chance to obtain one-time use talismans or magical objects to use in addition to their skills and abilities. These can be requested as activity rewards and will be decided completely at random by RNG. Players will be expected to RNG their own rewards from a list at RNG time and to follow the honor system. New items may occasionally be added or rotated in and out.
MAGICAL ITEMS

Characters that have no powers (aka are Roughing It) can get 1-2 items at AC time. If they roll an item listed as "permanent" they can only have (1) item. If they roll any item listed as non-permanent, like 1-time-use or reusable etc, they can roll a second item.
(If the second item they roll is listed as also "permanent" they can either just take the permanent one alone for (1) item at AC and ditch the first item they rolled, or re-roll until they can get a 2nd non-permanent item and have (2) items for AC.)
One-time-use or reusable items that run out often have abilities that are equivalent to "potions" or other rewards in video games, temporarily providing such things as minor healing or a brief attack.
Permanent items are more powerful or at least confer benefits on a permanent basis.
